QUESTIONS TO ASK YOURSELF

  • Do decisions tend to cycle again and again?
  • Do you wonder if people are growing in their ability to handle complex decisions?
  • Do you feel your church has taken two steps forward only for a step back?

THE SILVER BULLET IS ASKING WHY

  • Rookies ask “what,” veterans ask “why.”
  • Five ways asking why helps:
    • Helps you uncover how you got there
    • Figuring out if this problem has been brewing under the surface
    • Helps you understand if there is someone you can train better to avoid this same situation in the future
    • Answers the question on if you have a broken system that can fix this in the future
    • Helps you figure out if you view or perceive the world incorrectly

SYSTEMS IN DECISION-MAKING

  • Your organization is a set of sub-systems.
  • How decisions are made is part of a system.
  • Your system is either helping you toward momentum or hurting your momentum.
  • Decision-making has the potential to bring greater clarity on who you are and how you do things.
